JPG does not support transparency so transparent areas will be filled. You can choose the fill colour before converting. If you need to keep transparency, convert to WebP or keep it as PNG.
Both are modern web formats but AVIF generally achieves better compression than WebP, meaning smaller files at the same quality. AVIF has slightly less browser and software support, making WebP the safer choice for most situations right now.

Converting between lossless formats like PNG to PNG or PNG to BMP does not reduce quality. Converting to a lossy format like JPG or WebP applies compression — use the quality slider at 85 or above to keep the result looking sharp.
